Two block-machine quotations can show different prices because they describe different purchases. Before discussing a discount, establish what each proposal includes and excludes. A quotation should connect a defined machine configuration to a defined block product and a practical delivery scope.
Identify the equipment being offered
Record the model, configuration, power option and the documents that describe it. Ask the supplier to separate the main machine from mixing, feeding, handling and any other equipment. Include quantities so “accessories included” is not left open to interpretation.
Have optional items listed separately. This makes it possible to compare a startup package with a larger arrangement without treating their prices as equivalent. Do not assume a photograph of a complete production area shows everything included in the offer.
Define the mold package
Ask which approved block drawing the included mold is intended to produce. List the mold assembly, matching pressing components and any separately required parts. For several block sizes, request a separate reference and scope for each option.
The quotation should refer to the current drawing revision. When the geometry or machine interface changes, ask whether the price and delivery plan still apply. Keep technical approval separate from a general agreement on a headline price.
Make operating assumptions visible
Request the block drawing, shift length, staffing and material-handling arrangement behind an output estimate. Ask which site preparations, utilities and tools the buyer must provide. This helps distinguish an equipment quotation from a fully defined operating plan.
Avoid assigning monetary savings to claims that have not been demonstrated. Treat unknown staffing, consumables and commissioning requirements as open questions until the responsible people confirm them.
Clarify delivery and service boundaries
Ask for packing, package dimensions and weights, dispatch terms and the named delivery point. Where Incoterms are used, identify the agreed rule and version. ICC describes these rules as allocating delivery-related responsibilities; the parties still need a clear transaction-specific scope.
Request a separate description of installation guidance, training, documentation and after-sales arrangements. Confirm what is included, how support is provided and what additional travel or local-service costs may apply. Do not infer a lifetime service promise from a sales slogan.
Compare a common checklist
| Scope line | Supplier A and B should both state |
|---|---|
| Main equipment | Model, configuration and quantity |
| Molds and matched parts | Drawing references and included components |
| Supporting equipment | Mixer, transfer and handling inclusions |
| Delivery | Packing, named point and responsibilities |
| Acceptance and support | Agreed checks, documents and service scope |
Keep the completed checklist beside the commercial offer. It gives purchasing and operations the same basis for review and prevents a lower initial number from hiding equipment or services that still need to be arranged separately.
